[AMD] AMD Posts

Hey fellow airliners enthusiasts! I can remember when I found this group/listsrv and joined way back in 1995 I believe it was. (wow, I sound just like my grandfather!) I recall there were 1 or 2 posts a day waiting for me in my old Pine mailbox! While completing a transaction with Rob Sherry on a set of decals he was selling he reminded me how long we had been part of the list at about the 6 year mark. Now, I turn around and 14 years have passed and I'm buying things from Kurt in Germany, Braz parts from Russell at AHS, decals from Greg at Draw Decal and Charles at Two Six and many others around the globe! Over the years I have met many of you in person at the AI shows. Today, as it was back in those Internet stone ages, I still can't believe there are so many others out there with the same interest I have in airliner modeling!  These days I mostly lurk and I don't post very much, but I do read it just about every day. I know, I should chime in more often. I promise to try... I read just about every post even if the subject isn't high on my list of interests. To this day I always pickup little tidbits here and there from you folks that improve my modeling skills and keep me up to date on what is now available from all the talented people producing kits, decals, and detailing parts, etc. I appreciate those posts as well as someone selling things personally. I have purchased from many of you and will continue to do so as brick and mortar hobby shops go away. I purchase almost exclusively online for my airliner hobby fix now. Not only for convenience, but because the only place to find most of what I want is online through you folks. Thanks to you all for continuing to provide these things! The few "commercials" posted on this list are welcome in my book. Keep them coming! Most of the time it is the only time I would ever find out what is available out there. May I also say that I enjoy the slightly off topic discussions on the details of the real thing often posted here by Jeff and others with firsthand knowledge of the subject. Although I did work in the airline industry for many years, it has been many moons ago and I do enjoy hearing about airliner details I may have never noticed before so I can include them on my models. Thanks to the moderators for letting those posts go and for the time you put in here as well!

Sorry for the long post. Now you see why I don't do it often!

See you in MCO for AI2009...

Dave
