Heading says it all.... came through the front door early this morning.
I'll leave it to others to comment on the accuracy for the time
being.... there are many among us who see these aircraft close up
every day and can better comment on the accuracy of the GE engines,
landing gear, etc. My comments for the time being are that the kit
certainly "looks" right.... nose and tail shape appear to be
accurate. Zvesda has modelled the "Four door per side" version,
meaning there are no overwing exits, and consequently no overwing
exit markings on the decal sheet. It comes with "Airfix" style clear
windows, and a clear stand. Landing gear is certainly more detailed
than the Revell kit. One feature I do like is that the panel
scribing, and control surface scribing is very fine.... panel lines
in particular, You have to really look for them, and with a coat of
gloss white, I will venture to say they will almost completely
disappear. Which if you spend any time looking at airliners from any
more than about 100 feet or so.... is pretty accurate! If the
airplane is dirty, the panel lines might be visible, and I dare say
if anyone "weathers" one of these kits in the "Kevin Knowles"
way.... the model will look pretty convincing.
The decal looks pretty good for the Aeroflot version, though the
Boeing markings leave much to be desired. As I think I previously
read here.... you get the pleasure of masking and painting all those
fine white stripes for the "Dreamliner" version. Makes the MAS Cargo
green DC-8-73F look like child's play.... and at least Draw gives
the stripes on the decal sheet. Zveda does not..... However, and I
could be wrong, but I don't believe that Boeing ever painted a
767-300 in this scheme. Perhaps the first "Boeing Converted
Frieghter" (pax to cargo conversion), but I don't think so..... I'm
fairly certain the first one retained Al Nippon markings throughout
the conversion and test flight phases.
A reminder, I have Avigraphics sheet AG4097 providing all the window,
door, freight door, wing walks, etc, needed for this model if not
provided on the decal you choose to use.
Thanks!
