I remember flying an American DC-3, but it was a "main-line" flight from Albany to Syracuse, NY in the early 60's, and the lav was included. I'll check the floorplan for room for 32 passengers, probably with the extra row at the aft end. I found a photo of folks boarding at MIA with small bags and coats (winter?). Probably just held them in their lap when they discovered there were no overhead racks.
