I agree with you on that one, I'm not a fan of these kitbox types either.
but one thing I have done in the past is save the good kitboxes from built
kits, especially the Minicraft ones which are indeed very sturdy, and reuse
them to put in other kits, taping a label on the side.
Kept kitboxes do not take any space really, if you fold them flat on the
creases, or of that's not possible, "breaking them down" by ungluing them,
then glue them back up when in need.
