[AMD] Re: Commercial free or not

Regradless of how much I try to understand why some are so opposed to "advertising" -- of products that are direct interest to those who participate in the hobby from whence the name of this forum/group derives (ie AIRLINER MODELLING...)-- the question remains:

What IS the issue with "all the commercials" here at AMD? Like any of the posts, no one is forcing anyone to even open the topics and replies, much less take time to read them. Moreover, it's not exactly as though AMD is overcrowded or cluttered by what some wrongly (IMHO) refer to as commercials or advertising. It's more like a case of those who are most "in the know" concerning our hobby keeping us informed and updated as to "what's out there" especially in terms of new, often long-awaited, releases and re-releases.

What IS the problem for those who object to "all the commercials?" Messages concerning airline modelling items show up less frequently and occupy far less space than the sum total of ALL the "non-commerical" posts in which I have zero interest and therefore never bother to open. What's more, as far as I know, the feature of receiving new topics/replies at one's email address is totally optional -- I opted out of this feature long ago and have been able to "keep up" just fine by logging in to AMD on a regular basis.

So count me as one who would very much like to continue to see messages concerning airline modelling product updates posted by Russell Brown, David Hannant, TwoSix Decal, and others, both both business proprietors and individuals having kits or decals, etc, to sell. Your updates are very much appreciated!

...I will even admit that the so-called "commercials" that are the issue of this topic are the also the messages I am most likely to open and read, while ignoring many topics that go on seemingly forever about some obscure feature of some obscure airliner type...to each his/her own, I guess...that's what a forum like this is about...as long as we stick to the subject of airliner modelling.

As for me, keep those "infomercial" messages about kits, decals, conversions, etc coming!!!
