Get a Minicraft L-188 or an LS P-3 Orion. If I remember correctly, the
engine is the same Alisson with a similar (if not same) cowl shape, and same
Aeroproducts prop.

Browsing through a book on a rather different subject (Guppys), I discovered
an interesting experimental variant of a Convair 580. It's so special (and I
dare say so ugly) that I thought it would be an interesting subject for
cross-kitting 2 or 3 kits plus some scratchbuilding. Problem is, my
expertise in pre-jet period is limited and I've no idea where to find a CV
580 to begin with. In the Convair range I know of the CV 880 by F-RSIN, and
the C-131 Samaritan by Testors but almost nothing else. If there is
something nearer to a 580 to start with, I'd be glad to know. Since major
surgery is planned anyway, I don't really mind the donor kit be good or not.
If all I can find is a x40 kit, where could I find the Allison turboprops
used in the 580? The engines are the only part I don't feel like building
from scratch.
Any information welcome !
Thanks to all and have a nice Sunday.
