[AMD] Re: Endless Commercials

Being a moderator and a kit producer I thought it would not be appropriate to chime in and I have kept silent so far. After all I do advertise my products here from time to time so I do produce some of those "endless commercials".

However I had a thought about it and I would like to share my conclusions.

I joined the AMD about 10 years ago on Jodie's advice. At that time I was an occasional modeller but I loved watching other people's magnificent models (and still do).

That's how I found out about "cottage industries" such as BraZ, Drawdecal and so on.

For a long time I missed many subjects that were just not available and little by little I decided to make them - I started with 1/144 resin Caravelle 10R engines several years ago. Now I am one of the guys running F-RSIN and we produce many of the subjects some of us (including me) have always wanted with no joy so far. Where else can you find 1/144 kits of the Transall, Martin 202/404, Mercure, Convair 880, Sandringham, Trident Three, Hermes, Nord 262, Il-14 and so on?

I realized that without the AMD all that would not have been thinkable, let alone possible. I would perhaps never have thought of starting my own production.

The AMD has been a major incentive for me to develop F-RSIN and I am grateful to the group for that!

Therefore, announcing new products on the AMD is a natural thing for me to do and I hope it is not regarded as shameless advertising.

I too am interested in knowing what other manufacturers do so keep the "commercials" coming!

Laurent
