In regards to the recent debate on "worst airliner kit", I stayed on the sidelines. I regret I have to add my $0.02 to the discussion. I'm trying to build the Airfix Ford Trimotor. Trying being the key word here.
This kit is worse than even the Entex 747 in 1/144. The Trimotor is in 1/72, its only redeeming quality. From the usual Airfix jumble of parts in the box to the fact that NOTHING fits together right, to the fact that there are no pins to help you align ANYTHING on this kit, to the fact that you have to mask and paint all the framing on the windshield, to the corrugation that makes sanding next-to-impossible, I think this kit takes the cake.
It's taken me I-don't-know-how-many-tries to get the fuselage together. The strut holes on the engines don't line up. The interior doesn't come close to fitting. And the list just goes on and on.
I thought the Entex 747 and the Minicraft Electra were bad. THEY at least fit together, even if they weren't a representation of what they were supposed to be.
I amy tackle the Revell 1/77 Trimotor next, just to see how it is. But the Airfix trimotor is enough of a nightmare for one day.
